Cutting Tolerances

Our standard profile cutting offers a tolerance of +/- 0.010” in X and Y. It is more often than not that we achieve better than +/- 0.005” however that is determined by the material and thickness we are cutting.

How thick can you cut?

Our dual 85,000psi machines are both capable of cutting steel over 6” thick. Waterjet technology scales well when moving up in thickness. Our most common thicknesses of material that we deal with range between 0.125” and 2.0”.

What materials can you cut?

It would be faster to list materials that we cannot cut with our machines! No, we cannot cut diamonds but just about everything else is fair game.

What is the cut quality?

When cutting with a waterjet, cut quality is determined by a number of factors but the most important factor is speed. Our day to day cutting speed is 60% which you can see represented below. If we need a more refined edge we can slow down to 40% or slower. Just don’t forget that speed goes down but the price goes up!
